Comparison Between DDR2 and DDR3 RAM Memory

There are many types of RAM available for windows like SD RAM, DDR1, DDR2 and Now the latest DDR3. Mostly people search for the difference between the DDR2 and DDR3 RAM Memory. Now days DDR3 Ram is the top RAM after DDR2 and includes in latest processor and motherboard Computers. Here in this this post you can find the comparison and difference between the DDR2 and DDR3 RAM Memory.
Performance Comparison
In case of DDR3 the power consumption is less and the system can work faster at the rate of only 1.5Volt of power unlike DDR2 which consume 1.7Volt of Power. The DDR2 Memory can obtain the transfer rate of 3000-8500MB/sec. In case of DDR3 it maximum transfer rate is about 6300-16000MB/sec which is much faster than DDR2.

Speed Test
Here is an example of speed test. We measure the copy speed of 1GB DDR2 and 1GB DDR3 Ram and found the positive results in the case of DDR3 a single file of 50MB can be easily copied within 2-3 seconds approx whereas in case of DDR2 the time consumed for the same 50MB file was 4-5 seconds approx.

If you are looking for a 1GB Memory of DDR3 then it will cost you around $20-$22 approx where as a single DDR2 1GB can cost you $15-$20.

When it comes about purchasing a good and high performance memory for your computer we recommend to go for the latest one because we have to follow the trend. DDR3 Ram memory is the latest one in the computer industry and your computer can run much faster as compared to DDR2 or DDR1 Ram memory.
